First Time Buyers

We understand that buying a firearm for the first time can seem like a daunting task. We have compiled the following step-by-step guide to help you navigate the purchase and transfer process.

  1. Identify the firearm that fits your needs. There are a number of resources available online that can help you compare different models, calibers, or features to help determine which firearm will best meet your needs. A few helpful links are:
  2. Call or Stop in. We are here to answer any questions you may have and will be able to show you several different options that could fit your needs. We can gladly special order any available firearm for you as well.
  3. Payment: We offer a 90 day layaway plan with a 10% non-refundable deposit. Full payment will be required at the time of pickup.
  4. Picking up your firearm: To start this process, you will need your current, valid PA driver’s license or PA Identification Card. If your address is different from what is on your license, you WILL NEED your update card showing your current residence address.
  5. Shipping:  If you prefer, we will gladly ship any in stock firearm to an FFL that is closer to you (State Laws permitting).

During the pick up process – there will be either one or two forms that need to be completed, depending on whether you are purchasing a long gun or a handgun. Once these forms are filled out and signed, your background check can be initiated. This process takes just a minute or two unless your check goes into a “pending” status. This simply means that we must wait for an operator to run the check manually. This manual process can take anywhere from just a few minutes, to upwards of several hours. Unfortunately, this timeframe is unpredictable as we are at the mercy of the PA State Police operators who run the checks.

Once we receive the approval number for your background check, that number is recorded and additional signatures may be acquired. The paperwork portion of the process is now complete.

If you have any questions about the firearm before you take possession of it, we will gladly answer them. We don’t want anyone leaving with a firearm they are not comfortable operating. Ask about anything you aren’t sure about… there are no dumb questions when it comes to firearm safety!

We also have several names of certified firearm instructors that we are happy to share with anyone who is looking for instruction. From individual first-time range assistance with your own firearm, to group rates, they will do what they can to help you get the most out of your range time.
