We understand that buying a firearm for the first time can seem like a daunting task. We have compiled the following step-by-step guide to help you navigate the purchase and transfer process.
- Identify the firearm that fits your needs. There are a number of resources available online that can help you compare different models, calibers, or features. This can help determine which firearm will best meet your needs. A few helpful links are:
- Call or Stop in. We are happy to answer your questions, walk you through options that fit your needs, and if needed, special order any available firearm for you.
- Payment: We offer a 90 day layaway plan with a 10% non-refundable deposit. Full payment will be required at the time of pickup.
- Picking up your firearm. To start this process, you will need your current, valid PA driver’s license or PA Identification Card. If your address is different from what is on your license, you WILL NEED your address update card .
- Shipping. If you prefer, we will gladly ship any in stock firearm to an FFL that is closer to you (State Laws permitting). Please see our Firearm Transfer & Shipping page for more detials.
THE PICK UP PROCESS:
The forms required for your purchase will depend on whether you are buying a long gun or a handgun. Once the necessary forms are completed and signed, we can begin the background check process. In most cases, the check is completed within a minute or two. However, some checks may be placed in “pending” status and require manual review by a PA State Police operator. When this happens, the waiting time can range from a few minutes to several hours, and unfortunately, it is outside of our control.
After we receive your background check approval number, we will record it and collect any remaining required signatures. At that point, the paperwork portion of your purchase is complete.
Before you take possession of your firearm, our team is happy to answer any questions you may have. We want every customer to leave feeling comfortable, informed, and confident. If you are unsure about anything, please ask—when it comes to firearm safety, there are no dumb questions.
For customers interested in additional training, we can also provide names of certified firearm instructors. Whether you are looking for one-on-one guidance at the range with your own firearm or prefer a group instruction setting, these instructors can help you build confidence and make the most of your range time.
