About Us

Kerper's Gun Shop LLC had been family owned and operated since 1956. Our goal is to make your purchase as simple and hassle-free as possible. The knowledgeable and friendly staff at Kerper's will always do their best to make your shopping experience a pleasant one.

We stock an extensive inventory of handguns, long guns, muzzleloaders, optics and ammunition. For carrying or storing your firearm, we offer a great selection of holsters, conceal carry purses and handgun safes. We also stock magazines, cleaning supplies and many other firearm, fishing and hunting accessories.

For archery enthusiasts, we have expanded our business to include "Archery at Kerper's". We carry compound bows, crossbows and bow fishing supplies, as well as a large assortment of accessories. "Archery at Kerper's" also provides repair service and a video shooting range. Please check out the archery pages on our site.

Please don’t hesitate to ask us about any items you don’t see in our store or on our website. If we don’t have it, we can most likely order it, and have it here within just a few days. (Due to supply chain issues, there are still items that we can not “special order”. But, we will gladly check with our distributors on availability.)

Some of the brands that we carry include: S&W, Glock, Springfield Armory, Savage, Sig Sauer, Stevens, CZ, Savage, Remington, Ruger, Mossberg, FN, HK, Leupold, Bushnell, Crimson Trace and many more.

Thank You For Your Support

First Time Buyer Tutorial:

Buying a firearm online for the first time can seem like a daunting task. We have compiled the following step-by-step guide to help you navigate the online purchase and transfer process.

  1. Identify the firearm that fits your needs. There are a number of resources available online that can help you compare different models, calibers, or features to help determine which firearm will best meet your needs. A few helpful links are:
  2. Browse our online catalog. If we have the firearm on hand, it will display the price and quantity. If the firearm is listed as "special order available", that means that it is in stock at one of our distributor’s warehouses, and if you place the order, that firearm will be shipped here to our store for you to complete the purchase of it in person.
  3. Payment: We offer a 90 day layaway plan with a 10% non-refundable deposit. Full payment will be required at the time of pickup.
  4. Shipping: We will gladly ship any in stock firearm to an FFL that is closer to you (State Laws permitting).
  5. Picking up your firearm: Once the firearm is received in house, you will need to appear in person to complete the necessary paperwork and background check to take possession of your purchase. To start this process, you will need your current, valid PA driver’s license or PA Identification Card. If your address is different from what is on your license, you WILL NEED your update card showing your current residence address.

There are either one or two forms you will need to complete, depending on whether you are purchasing a long gun or a handgun. Once these forms are completed and signed, your background check will be initiated. This process can go automated and take just a minute or two, or, there are times the background check will go into a "pending" status, where we must wait for an operator to run the check manually. This manual process can take anywhere from just a few minutes, to upwards of several hours. Unfortunately, this timeframe is unpredictable. We are at the mercy of the PA State Police operators who run the checks, and it just depends how busy they are at the time.

Once we do receive the approval number for your background check, that number is recorded, additional signatures will be acquired if needed, and the paperwork portion of the process will be complete.

If you have any questions about the firearm before you take possession of it, we will gladly answer them. We don’t want anyone leaving with a firearm they are not comfortable operating. Ask about anything you aren’t sure about… there are no dumb questions when it comes to firearm safety!

We also have several names of certified firearm instructors that we are happy to share with anyone who is looking for instruction. From individual first-time range assistance with your own firearm, to group rates, they will do what they can to help you get the most out of your range time.
